Dhaka, Bangladesh – November 4, 2025:

UPM, as a technical partner to Integration GmbH, supported the successful delivery of a two-day capacity building workshop on “Biomass and Waste-to-Energy” for the Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL). The workshop, organized by Integration GmbH and implemented by UPM experts, took place on November 3–4, 2025, at IDCOL headquarters in Dhaka.
As the Project Management Consultant (PMC) for REP II & III, funded by KfW, Integration GmbH leads the implementation of project monitoring, technical assistance, and capacity-building measures for IDCOL. UPM experts, working on behalf of Integration, designed and conducted this specialized training to enhance IDCOL’s technical and financial assessment capabilities in biomass and waste-to-energy project development.

The workshop featured interactive sessions covering:

  • Global technology trends and market outlook
  • Biomass fuel supply chains and logistics
  • Waste stream management and gate-fee models
  • Technology comparison (incineration, anaerobic digestion, pyrolysis/gasification)
  • Financial modeling, tariff setting, and bankability analysis
  • Environmental and social safeguards
The sessions were led by Mr. Heinz-Peter Mang and Dr. Ilias GNM, senior international experts from UPM, both recognized for their extensive expertise in renewable energy systems, waste management, and carbon project finance.
