UPM is pleased to announce that Prof. Heinz-Peter Mang will participate as a panelist in the Nexus in Action for Competitiveness event, organized by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, to be held Thursday, 04 June 2026, at Le Méridien Dhaka in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

This event will showcase key findings, tools, studies, and good practices, while fostering partnerships to scale solutions that enhance resource efficiency in the apparel industry. It will highlight how integrating resource-efficient measures in water, chemicals, and energy not only boosts competitiveness but also helps businesses prepare for emerging global regulatory requirements – compliance and beyond.

The purpose of the event includes:

  • Highlighting the importance of self-monitoring mechanisms to guide organisations on their sustainability journey;
  • Showcasing cost-saving, sustainable products, tools, and business cases within the resource-efficiency nexus in the RMG/textile sector;
  • Demonstrating how effective self-monitoring systems can support industry readiness for global regulations; and
  • Validating research findings with factory representatives, including water, energy, and chemicals managers, sustainability experts, and general management.

Prof. Heinz-Peter Mang will join Session #4c / Parallel Session #3: Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. UPM has been contracted by GIZ Bangladesh to conduct a feasibility study on biogas production within Bangladesh’s textile industry, starting from 2024. Prof. Mang has been leading the project.
