After having passed the endorsement process successfully, UPM has been endorsed today as a C-Sink Trader with Carbon Standards International (CSI). This will entitle UPM to operate its own CSI registry account to receive, transfer and retire Carbon Dioxide Removal Credits (CDRCs) generated by CSI-registered carbon removal projects, such as Global Artisan C-Sink biochar projects.

Carbon Standards International provides the most reliable and innovative framework to cooling down the planet. Their Mission is to define the Standards and Systems for todays and the future Biochar and CDR Market. They offer their services globally operated from different countries. Their Head Office is located in Switzerland.

„Being endorsed as a C-Sink Trader with Carbon Standards International is an important milestone on UPM’s way to build up a diversified high-end portfolio of next generation carbon credits which needs to include both premium-quality carbon avoidance and carbon removal projects to help achieving the Paris Agreement’s net-zero target. As a next step, we will soon receive the first CDRCs from the WongPhai Biochar A1 Project in Thailand and the Tachibana Biochar Project in Ghana “, says Martin Dilger, Managing Director of UPM in Germany.
