UPM launches www.upm-climate.eu, reflecting the transition beyond the Clean Development Mechanism

UPM is pleased to announce the launch of its new corporate website, www.upm-climate.eu, marking an important step in the company’s strategic evolution. The new platform replaces www.upm-cdm.eu and reflects UPM’s repositioning following the announced phase-out of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) by 2026 and the evolving international climate framework.

As carbon markets and climate finance continue to evolve, UPM is strengthening its focus on the development of high-impact carbon projects and the provision of technical support for climate mitigation. The company concentrates on renewable energy, waste management, waste-to-energy, and sanitation projects. These sectors have strong potential for measurable emission reductions and durable development benefits.

UPM remains firmly committed to supporting the climate ambitions of its institutional clients and partners. A core element of this support is the continued issuance and sale of high-integrity, certified carbon credits, including Gold Standard credits from the UPM Gold Standard Sichuan Household Biogas Programme of Activities (PoA), as well as other high-impact certified projects. These credits enable partners to meet voluntary climate commitments while delivering verified mitigation outcomes and meaningful social and environmental co-benefits.

UPM also supported international institutions for capacity building on the Climate-Sanitation Nexus, such as supporting GGGI Africa for Training of Trainers in Africa, to strengthen the capabilities of sanitation experts from 10 African countries with the aim to fully integrate climate considerations into sanitation policies and practices.

Building on more than 30 years of experience, UPM combines technical expertise with carbon project development know-how to deliver integrated solutions at the Climate-Waste-Energy nexus, with a particular focus on projects serving vulnerable communities in emerging and developing markets.

The transition from upm-cdm.eu to upm-climate.eu reflects UPM’s broader move toward forward-looking climate solutions that integrate mitigation, sustainable infrastructure, and long-term resilience.

“The launch of upm-climate.eu signals a clear strategic direction for UPM,” said Martin Dilger, Managing Director of UPM. “As the carbon landscape evolves, UPM remains focused on delivering practical, high-integrity climate projects and on continuing to support our partners through reliable, certified carbon credits.”

Through its new website, UPM presents its end-to-end services, covering project origination, development, carbon certification, financing, and implementation, with a strong emphasis on transparency, environmental integrity, and long-term impact.

Stakeholders, partners, and clients are invited to explore www.upm-climate.eu and follow UPM’s continued engagement in advancing climate and sustainable development solutions.
