Today, UPM obtained CDM registration approval for its “Engro Biomass Project” near Lahore in the province of Punjab, Pakistan (UNFCCC Ref. 8482).

The project will install biomass boiler to generate 30 tonnes of steam per hour. This will replace a natural gas boiler with the same capacity. By reducing natural gas consumption and using renewable biomass as fuel, the project will reduce an annual amount of 49,000 tons of carbon dioxide.

The Project has been validated by Buerau Veritas Certification Holding SAS.
