Today, UPM obtained CDM registration approval for its “Biogas Power Generation Project in Longganhu Town, Huanggang city, Hubei Province, P.R. China” (UNFCCC Ref. 7314). The project is the first biogas power project invested by China Huadian Corporation.

The project employs anaerobic biogas digesters to treat the manure of 100,000 pigs and recovers the biogas for electricity production. The electricity generated will be supplied to the Central China Power Grid (CCPG). These measures will are planned to generate a total emission reduction of 278,590 tCO2e over the total crediting period of 10 years.

The Project has been validated by Tuev Rheinland.
